Safeway - National Program
Safeway has transitioned from regional control
of their product assortments to national category management, known
as the Safeway Category Optimization Process or SCOP. With all corporate
buying done from Safeway's Pleasanton offices, it is imperative
that manufacturers are represented by experienced sales professionals
with extensive product and category knowledge.
Our Safeway Team
For over 30 years, our Regional Vice President, Bob Alberto, has
worked closely with OTC manufacturers. Bob's knowledge of the northern
California territory, and Safeway specifically, has been responsible
for many product successes. His hands-on approach achieves new distribution,
sustains existing distribution, and adds excitement to existing
SKU's.
Tanja Bundt, working with Bob, specializes in HBC
with a focus on skin care, cosmetics, and oral care.
Tony Dyrda is our General Merchandise specialist,
and is also responsible for several private label programs. Tony's
experience has made him a valuable asset to Safeway, as well as
to our manufacturers.
Bill Whitaker is responsible for seasonal product
programs. Working almost 12 months ahead, Bill pays particular attention
to the logistic challenges that can make or break a seasonal promotion.
Safeway outsources their national clip strip programs.
Melinda Finnegan works closely with the company Safeway has selected
to manage and implement this exciting placement opportunity. In
addition, Melinda is responsible for implementing national OTC programs
at Safeway's 1,100+ pharmacy locations.
Retail Support
Safeway contracts with Retail Marketing Solutions to implement schematics
in their 10 divisions. Our Safeway account team works with RMS to
assure the manufacturers their distribution objectives are accomplished.
Growing the Business
Safeway has a menu of promotions and programs that coordinate with
their promotional calendar. Our experience guides manufacturers
to those opportunities that will achieve objectives and stay within
budget. We monitor those programs to assure compliance and process
all claims through our office, taking a proactive role in helping
you reach your volume objectives.
No Surprises
We know the SCOP deadlines and take pride in being prepared: Success
follows preparation. Price increases, case pack and UPC changes,
and all other pertinent information is closely monitored and constantly
updated. Deduction issues are addressed immediately, and we are
the primary contact for resolution of those issues.
